Graveside Services for Mr. Stand Waite LaBoon, 59, of  Norman, Oklahoma will be held at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma with the Reverend David Wilson officiating.                                     

Stand was born February 1, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Fred Phillip and Helen Jeanette LaBoon.  He passed way February 24 ,2011 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Stand graduated from Norman High School and furthered his education by attending Oklahoma University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Education and a Masters in Public Administration.  Stand had a passion for victims of mental illness and subsequently spent most of his life in that field.  He started his career as a Recreational Therapist and worked his way up to being Superintendent at Griffin Memorial Hospital and Chief Executive Officer at Hope Community Mental Health Center.  He had a great love for sports, especially OU Football.  His generosity to charities, family and friends will not be forgotten. 
  
Stand is survived by his life long friend and partner Chris Olson, daughters, Cathy and Julie; grandchildren, John Paul and Maliyah; brothers, Phil and his wife Debby of Colorado and Steve and his wife Sherry of Athens, Georgia; nephews, Chris, Steve and Andrew; niece, Kelly.

In lieu of flowers, Stand requests donations be made to Hope Community Mental Health Center, 4720 South Shields, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73129 or Food and Shelter for Friends, 104 West Comanche Street, Norman, Oklahoma  73069.

Family will greet friends 5:00 P.M. To 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman, Oklahoma  73072.
