With their love,
the family of Dan Gibbens announces his passing. Wife Carol, sons Mike and Bob
and his five grandchildren remember Dan for his love, kindness, good humor,
honesty and for just being "fun." Among their fondest memories are many family
vacations to Lake Fishhook, Minnesota and closer to home at Lake Eufaula, as
well as the many trips to the Orange Bowl to watch OU play football.
Others remember his 50 years of service to OU, as a law professor and the
University's Faculty Representative to the Big 8 and Big 12 Conference, and the
many ways he helped the Norman Community. Those with a long memory know he
served in the Navy and graduated from Yale University, OU and Columbia law
schools and Classen High School.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Myron and Grace Gibbens, brothers
Murray, Jim and Dick Gibbens, and his sister Betty Linn. He was survived by his
wife; sons; grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Sheryl and Suzanne Gibbens; his
sister-in-law, Jeannine Gibbens; as well as many nephews, nieces, other
relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's memory to St. Michael's
Episcopal Church, 1601 W. Imhoff Rd., Norman, OK 73072.
