Norman William Cox, 66, Blanchard, died Wednesday morning, July 3, 2013. Memorial service was at 10 a.m. Monday at Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman, followed by graveside prayer at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Norman.

Norman was born in Oklahoma City to George Cox and Francis Loraine Tonkinson Cox of Anadarko.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Ira and Nettie Tonkinson of Anadarko.

Norman was a family man who valued his many relationships with friends and family. He was a loving husband to his wife Diane (Davis) of 42 years. They shared many adventures over four decades. Norman often traveled for work and he enjoyed nothing more than bringing home surprises for her such as stray dogs and cats, boats, cars and antiques. Diane wasn't just his wife, but his rock that anchored him all these years and especially through his long fight with cancer. Friends rarely mentioned them separately, they were a package deal, Norman and Diane.

Norman also raised three children: Jason, Christopher and Amanda. They will miss him dearly. He enjoyed his grandchildren as well, all 14 of them. He was so proud to be Pa Pa to them. He had very few conversations that didn't mention his kids or grandkids and it didn't matter if you were a friend or stranger. You would soon hear about them if you kept company with Norman. Norman was a photographer at Blunk's Studios in Lawton for more than 20 years. If you had your school days pictures or senior portrait taken in the last half of the 1980s or in the 1990s, then he most likely took them. All three of his kids graduated from Lawton Eisenhower High School. His wife Diane worked at Comanche County Memorial Hospital and the Surgery Center of Lawton.

Norman is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane; daughter, Mandy McCurdy with husband Jim, son, Christopher with wife Amanda, and son, Jason with wife Lori. Norman has 14 grandchildren: Cody, Garrett, Tyler, Brad, Madison, Katty, Luke, Laney, Sam, Jack, Grace, Ethan, Sarah, and Blake. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Holiday and brother-inlaw Doc, and their children: Matt and Kelly, his brother-inlaw and sister-in-law, Scotty and Jana Davis, and their children: Holly Gray and Brandon; and his aunt, Pat (Tonkinson) and uncle Walter Williams.
