Jack D. Shaw, 79, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma.  He was born January 16, 1932 in Hennessey, Oklahoma to Frank and Wilma Fay (Holloway) Shaw. 

Jack served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1954 with the 357th Ordinance Heavy Maintenance Company in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an automotive mechanic in Okarche, OK where he met and married his love, Mary Nell Baustert; together they raised five children. In 1962, he was able to follow his desire to work on aircraft and entered in the aviation field. He received his Airframe and Power Plant license and worked on small planes until 1971. At that time he began work with the 122 ARCOM on the North Base in Norman, OK. On the North Base he became supervisor of the helicopter hanger. During this time he completed various advanced training programs such as C5610/Cf700 engine school, Saberliner Ground School, M.G.T. Supervisory Skills School, Beech Aircraft Maintenance School and many more trainings. In 1980, with the closure of the North Base facility he began work for the F.A.A. at Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, in Oklahoma City. Jack retired from the F.A.A. in 1994, and pursued his hobby of restoring antique outboard motors and fishing. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Golden Agers.

Jack is survived by two sons, Frank Shaw and wife Karol of Norman and John Shaw of Helena, OK; two daughters, Mary Lynn Willard and husband Jeff and Linda Sue Payne and husband Fred both of Norman; one brother, Robert Shaw and wife Linda of Enid, OK; one sister, June Lindsey and husband Olen of Conway, AR; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Shaw; son, Robert Shaw and grandson, David Keller.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday, April 22, 2011 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.

A Prayer Vigil will be held 6:00 P.M., Sunday, April 24, 2011 in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 N. Porter, Norman with interment following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
