Morris,
Helen Christine (Jansing), 79, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 in
her home in Norman surrounded by family. She was born March 26, 1931 in
Norman the daughter of Ben D. and Lena Hoffelder Jansing.
She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Norman in 1949 and
completed her education with a Bachelor of Science in Education from
Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1971. She
touched the lives of many children while being an elementary school
teacher for 20 years before retiring in 1991.
Helen enjoyed traveling and she was pleased to have visited all 50
states and 18 foreign countries on four continents. She just completed
a visit to Ireland in March of this year. Her favorite place was
anywhere in Italy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Magdalen Schaefer
and Claira Ann and husband James Russell.
She is survived by her
husband of 61 years, Lonnie Morris of the home; a son, Larry and his
wife Debbie Morris of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Denise and her husband
Bob Rice of Soper, Oklahoma and a son Lynn and his wife Karen Morris of
Overland Park, Kansas; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren;
one brother, Bernard and his wife Frances Jansing of Norman and
brother-in-law, Don Schaefer also of Norman.
A Prayer Vigil service will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 5, 2010
at Havenbrook Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
211 N. Porter, Norman with
burial following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the
direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
