Doris J. Lieberman, 76, of Norman, passed away September 19, 2016.
Doris was born July 18, 1940, in Dardanelle, AR, to Antone and Anna (Brabec) Wesley.
Doris Lieberman was one of those rare individuals with a heart
of gold. She was and is the quintessential mother, nurturing and
bringing peace to everyone in her life.
A mother of five daughters, grandmother (Meemaw) of 11
grandchildren, and great-grandmother of a brand-new great
grandbaby, Doris’ life was full of love.
A nurse for over 50 years, Doris was always ready with a kind
word, sage medical advice, and a soothing hand on the shoulder.
She has cared for patients in all stages of life, working in
pediatrics, family medicine, geriatrics and hospice care.
Doris enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds, and had
several birdfeeders outside her window. She enjoyed reading and
flowers and all kinds of music. She loved the time she spent
singing in the choir at St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed time
spent with friends, near and far: Local besties, friends from
nursing school, and fellow Dardanelle High School Sand Lizards.
Most of all, Doris loved being with her family. There is rarely
a Sunday when the Lieberman Clan doesn’t gather for Sunday
Lunch. When she sold her house and moved in with her daughter
Sharon and family, Sunday Lunch simply moved from Mom’s house to
Sharon’s house.
Doris was a calming presence. She gave so much love, and now it
is coming back to her a hundredfold. She has been a bright light
in this world, and the world is a better place because of her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dewey
Lieberman, and daughter Jennifer Dunaway.
Survivors include her four daughters: Sarah Bramlage, Sharon
Barbee and husband Mike, Lisa Stafford and husband Doug, and
Susan Colvin and husband Roger; son-in-law Bryon Dunaway; 11
grandchildren: Benjamin Dunaway and fiancée Chelsea, Eric
Dunaway and wife Allison, Paul Stafford, Michael Stafford,
Rebekah Stafford, Anna Barbee, Julia Barbee, Jude Colvin, Gabrel
Colvin, Joseph Colvin, and Dakota Colvin; great grandson Jackson
Dunaway; and a host of other family members and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sieck and
his nurse Diana; Dr. Sellers; Dr. Plusquellec; Dr. Cuong Nguyen;
the staff of Brookhaven Extensive Care; friend and hospice
nurse, Donna Branham; caregivers/friends, Estela Espinoza and
Sonia Medina; and their personal friends that were there for
them during their time of need.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Friday, September 23,
2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 N. Porter, Norman,
OK.
