Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Damien Eckstein, age 25, of Moore, will begin at 10:00am Monday, October 21, 2013 at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 3939 West Tecumseh Road in Norman, Oklahoma. 
A Prayer Vigil service will begin at 6:00pm Sunday, October 20, 2013 also at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.

The Eckstein family will greet friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman. 

Damien Lee Eckstein was born June 2, 1988 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the son of Jim and Conni (Ohler) Eckstein. 

He passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 in Oklahoma City.  

Damien moved to Norman in 1993 with his mother, Conni and brother, Tim where he attended the Norman Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 2006. 
He enlisted into the United States Army Reserves and deployed to Iraq with the 302nd MP Company from Grand Prairie, Texas.  Damien proudly served in Mosul, Iraq, surviving an IED explosion, patrolling the streets of Mosul and training the Iraqi military. 
Damien was united in marriage to Miss Tiffany Powell on August 12, 2008 in the backyard of his mother’s home in Norman, Oklahoma.  Damien and Tiffany made their home in Moore where they were devoted in caring for their three beautiful children, Drake, Aubree, and Blaine.

After his return from Iraq, Damien was employed with Sign-A-Rama of Oklahoma City. 

Damien is survived by his wife, Tiffany and their three children of the home; his mother, Conni Eckstein of Norman, Oklahoma; his father, Jim Eckstein and his fiancée, Terri Stewart and her children, Kyle and Jenna of Spartanburg, South Carolina; one brother, Tim Eckstein of Moore, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Cynthia Crusha and her husband, Leon, of Pawnee, Oklahoma; his father-in-law, Terry Powell and his wife, Elleesha, of Oklahoma City; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gordon and Vivian Ohler and his paternal grandparents, William and Phyllis Eckstein.

Burial will conclude in the Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Norman with military honors being rendered by the 366th Unit from Stillwater, Oklahoma. 

The Patriot Guard Riders of Oklahoma will be providing the escort for Damien from St. Mark the Evangelist Church to the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Damien Lee Eckstein in care of Linda Holt and sent to Republic Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 5369, Norman, Oklahoma 73070-5369 to the attention of Philip Wong. 

Arrangements for Damien and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home on Norman, Oklahoma.
