Beattie, Evelyn Louise, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma.  She was born December 29, 1929 in Oklahoma City to O.M. And Lillian (Johnson) Hopkins.  She was united in marriage on January 1, 1948 in Oklahoma City to Homer Beattie, Sr.

Evelyn was an LPN in the healthcare profession for 15 years retiring in 1989.  She was an avid golfer and artist.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening, needlework and ceramics.  Evelyn will be remembered for being independent, strong willed and self sufficient.  Her last words with Father Menasco were that she had no fear of dying and she knew she was going to heaven.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Homer John Beattie, Jr. of Norman, OK and David Beattie and wife Jan of Edmond, OK; two brothers, Donald Hopkins and wife Jan of OKC and Harold Hopkins and wife Ruth of Colorado Springs, CO; and five grandchildren, Melissa Ferron and husband Dennis of Moore, Stacy Compton of Peck, KS, Shelly Compton of OKC, Nathan Beattie of Edmond and Sophia Beattie of Edmond. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer; one brother, Leslie Hopkins; one daughter, Bonnie Lynn Compton and one son, Richard Michael Beattie.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M., Friday, January 14, 2011 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.

Prayer Vigil services will be held 6:30 P.M., Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 211 N. Porter, Norman with interment following in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
