After 79 years of a life well lived, Edward Earl Van Buskirk left his earthly home on February 5, 2016.

He was born September 14, 1936 in Ringling, OK to Earl and Ruby (Lyle) Van Buskirk. Edward was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School and later went on to serve in the United States Army. Edward was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, retiring in 2000. He had a passion for OU football and sports cars; he even raced at the fairgrounds back in the 60s. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing with his son.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, R.E. Van Buskirk and J.C. Van Buskirk.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories: son, Edward J. Van Buskirk and wife, Summer; stepdaughter, Sherry Thomas; brother, G.H. Van Buskirk; sisters, Earlene Estes and Cordelia Borden; his close childhood friend, David Newman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Edward’s celebration of life will be held Tuesday, February 9 at 2pm in the Resthaven chapel with interment to follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
