On Wednesday morning, February 24, 2016 at the age of 81, Elnora Davis Tomes passed away at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

She was born in Oklahoma City on June 1, 1934. She graduated from Midwest City High School in 1952 and married James Riley Tomes, Jr. the same year. From this union, a son was born, James Riley Tomes, III. Elnora retired in 1995 after 26 years as a secretary for both Oklahoma City Public Schools and Metro Technology Center. After retirement, she became involved in many senior organizations including the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), Grandparents for Grandkids, and the Christmas Connection doing volunteer work, along with making many new friends.

Elnora was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed playing “Nickle, Nickle” with her lady friends, watching OU sports (baseball, basketball, and football), watching the Oklahoma City Thunder play, traveling abroad, and attending her great grandson’s basketball games. Most of all, she treasured her time spent with her family.

Elnora is survived by her son, James Riley Tomes III of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Amber Ranae Darakhshan and husband Brian, and their son Brice of Jones, OK; and grandson, Krager James Tomes of Ulsan, Korea.
