His family moved to Oklahoma City when he was 4 years old . He graduated from U S Grant High School in 1964 and attended Oklahoma City University majoring in Physical education before enlisting in the U S Marine Corps on February 1965.
In 1962, he had won the Mid State Colt League Batting Championship with a batting average of .444.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is also survived by a brother Simon Sr. and a sister Linda, both of the home.
Services were under direction of Vondel L. Smith Funeral Mortuary.
