Dana Sinclair passed from this life on May 8, 2016, Mother’s Day, at her
home in Flowermound, Texas at the age of 56 following a long courageous
battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Her family, friends and caregivers supported
her with love and care in her time of need.
She was born on May 19, 1959, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as the fourth and
youngest daughter born to Floyce Newman Floyd and Calvin Dayton Floyd. Dana
married Mark Sinclair on September 16th, 1989. They had a beautiful
daughter, Melissa Ann Sinclair on April 22, 1994. Melissa is pursuing a
career in Engineering like her father. Dana always loved pets. Over the
years she had many treasured pets: Sam, Ginger, Maggie, Max and leaves
behind 3 grand doggies: Jake, Rocco and Lillie.
As a young child she was active in Camp Fire and played in the American
Legion Kiltie Band touring Oklahoma to spread good will. She was selected as
the representative to Oklahoma Girls state for Capital Hill High School
where she graduated as the valedictorian in 1977. Dana wanted a little
sister so during her senior year, the family sponsored Silvana from Brazil
for a year. Dana and her parents traveled with Silvana throughout the United
States. In return, Dana spent Christmas holiday in Brazil with Silvana’s
family. She graduated with a Computer Science Bachelor of Science (BS) from
Oklahoma State University (OSU) in 1981 carrying on the tradition of her
grandfather, Curtis Floyd who graduated there in 1922.
Dana worked as a computer programmer for Sprint and General Dynamics until
she became a full time mom when her daughter was born. She was always doing
crafts, especially for the nieces and nephews. Dana was an avid reader and
enjoyed video games cards and dominoes. She loved plants especially getting
African violets to grow and bloom.
Dana’s family enjoyed trips to Disney world and to visit family especially
on holidays. Even as her illness progressed, she spent her last July 4th,
Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family in Oklahoma City. She even shared
a big celebration of her mother’s 90th birthday and an over 25 years of
marriage since married on her mother’s birthday.
Dana was a long-time and faithful member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist
Church of Oklahoma City. Since her youth she attended Harmony Plains Singing
School at Cone Texas and always enjoyed singing.
The family wants to thank all the caregivers for all the love and care
provided. Even through her struggles with illness, she remained our hope and
inspiration.

Husband; Mark Sinclair
Daughter: Melissa Sinclair
Three sisters and brother-in-laws: Sandy and Tom Billingsley, Judy and Bill
