Otis Paul "O.P." Russell was born May 24, 1904, at Stonewall, Indian Territory, Oklahoma and departed this life February 22, 1992.In 1905 with his parents H. E. and Nettie Herron Russell they traveled to western Oklahoma in a covered wagon, homesteading in the Liberty Center community near Leedey, Oklahoma.
In 1925 he went to work in the oil fields in Borger, Texas and continued in the oil business being actively engaged as a Lease Broker in western Oklahoma during the oil boom years of the 40's and 50's.
O. P. was one of the original participants in the Gas Anadarko Basin.
He and Wanda Brown were married in 1927 and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in December.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; two daughters, Alvena Jo and husband John Dee Scribner; and Patty Sue Russell; two grandchildren, H. R. Gale and wife Barbara; and Deena Anderson and her husband Robert; five great grandchildren, Jerry, Bob and Sharla Gale, Jennifer and Jamie Presley; two sisters, Kathryn Davis and LeOma Steindom and husband Albert; two brothers, Dock and Harold Russell and wife Becky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, a cherished grandfather and a friend to everyone he knew.
Services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m at the Hahn-Cook-Street and Draper Funeral Home.
Burial was at Resthaven Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
