Raymond Roy, 81, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2001 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born October 15, 1920 in Marion, Iowa to Louis and Cora (Jepson) Wall and raised on the family farm in Central City, Iowa.
Raymond served as a navigator/ bombardier with the 717 Bombardment Squadron during WWII Korean War and retired with the rank of Captain after 22 years active service. He was part of Chuck Yager's ground crew during the historic breaking of the sound barrier. Ray's military career was followed by 20 years of federal service with the F.A.A. in Oklahoma City.
Ray was still not ready to retire so he worked at the First National Bank in Midwest City for eight years. He loved fishing and gardening at 'Poppy's Playfarm' in beautiful Lake Eufala.
Raymond is survived by his wife of the home, Georgia Wall; two sons, Tim and Debbie Wall of Oklahoma City and Louis and Deena Wall of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Glenda and Lenard Williams of Newalla, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Jenifer Harty and family of Kingston, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Matthew, Amela, Taylor, and Zachary; siblings, Glen Wall and family of Central City, Iowa, Albion Wall and family of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Charlie Wall and family of Murphysburrow, Tennessee, Viola Kerr and family of Rochester, Minnesota, and Vanita Kester and family of Manchester, Iowa.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 1, 2001 in the Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
