Ernest Smith, 98 1/2 years old and long-time resident of Oklahoma City, passed away March 8, 2020. He was born August 9, 1921 in St. Louis, OK to James Harvey and Nancy Alice Smith.

Ernest was one of twelve children. He had six brothers and five sisters. The Smiths were a farm family with farms in Potawatomi, McClain and Cleveland counties.

He entered the U.S. Army – Air Corp in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant.

Returning home to the farms, Ernest soon met and married the love of his life, Alberta Nadine Kuchynka in 1953. Together they raised three children.

Ernest was a hard-working man all his life. He was a farmer, carpenter, mechanic, and construction worker. He retired in 1986 to enjoy time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ernest is survived by his son Johnie Smith; daughter’s Nancy and husband Doug Hutchinson, and Ann Sharp; grandchildren, Joey Smith and family, Adam Smith and wife Maddie Taomia, Kelly and husband Freddie Zahed, Jason and wife Ashley Sharp, Casey and husband Ben Cogburn, and Kaleb Sharp; great-grandchildren, Adeleigh, Avereigh, Aubreigh and Alexeigh Sharp, Ella and Cooper Cogburn, and Hadley Lou Zahed; Brother, Glen Smith; two sisters, Lorene Harruff and Ruth Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends..
