Dolores Scott, age 82 of South Oklahoma City, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Dolores Elaine Grigsby was born December 11, 1937 in Anadarko, OK, the baby of 5 children born to Irvin and Ethel Grigsby. She was raised primarily in Okla. City and attended school there, graduating from Capitol Hill High School in 1957. She fondly remembered spending her summers with her Aunt at the family homestead near Gotebo, and she would tell you of the impact this made on her as a young woman.
Dolores's life changed forever when she met a young man from Ardmore. His name was B.W. Scott, and at the time, he had moved to Norman to play football for Bud Wilkinson and the Oklahoma Sooners. By chance, they met, and they quickly hit it off. In October of 1958, while on their way to the OU/Texas Football game, Dolores and B.W. stopped in Marietta and were married, and they shared the next 62 1/2 years together, side by side.
They first made their home in Okla. City where together they raised daughter, Debbie and three sons, Bruce, Jay and Randy. Dolores worked for a time for the Oklahoma City Police Department and also for Oklahoma County. Her biggest joy, and her most prized possession was her family and she greatly enjoyed following her kids and eventually her grandchildren. She was their biggest fan and never missed a game or any of their other activities. She was competitive and an avid bowler, and she bowled league for many years. Dolores enjoyed watching T.V. and never missed an opportunity for a good western. She was a confident lady, a woman of great faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. She was a wonderful and fun-loving person, never too shy to give her opinion and an all-around good person. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Irvin Grigsby and Ethel Plumb and Daughter-in-law, Debbie Scott.
