Our precious baby girl, Karey Nicole Rolland, 16, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, Friday evening, February 22, 2008. Born January 2, 1992, Karey is survived by her parents, Steve and Debbie (Lenz) Rolland of the home, her brother Steven Rolland of the home, sisters Lori and husband Sid Richardson of Harrah, Dawn and husband Ray Rutzer of McLoud; nieces Kelsey Beesley, Callysta and Lindsey Richardson; nephews Tanner, Tyler, and Tayler Rutzer; Maternal Grandmother Helen Louise Lenz of OKC; Paternal Grandfather Ernest Rolland of Comanche; Uncle Dale and wife Margaret Lenz of Tahlequah, Uncle Tom and wife Debi Lenz of Oklahoma City, Aunt Nancy and husband Bill Walker of Newcastle, Aunt Gina and husband Jack Lokey of Comanche, Aunt Sandra Rolland of Shawnee; her 'second' family, A. J., Elizabeth, Nichole, Ashley and Joey Ferron, the DMC dancers, the Choctaw HS Drama Program, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Karey was preceded in death by maternal Grandfather Frank A. Lenz, maternal Grandfather Charles E. Lenz, paternal Grandmother Oma Lee Rolland, and paternal Uncle Jearl Rolland.
Karey's favorite pastime was to dance. She danced for the DMC School of Dance under the direction of Christie Johnson for 13 years and was a participant in competitive dancing for the last seven years.
Karey was a member of the Choctaw HS Drama Team where she spent many enjoyable hours before, during and after school practicing and practicing and practicing. Karey enjoyed school and her favorite subjects were math and history. Her ultimate goal was to become a 5th grade teacher.
Karey's celebration of life will be Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the Choctaw High School Lyle Boren Activity Center, 14300 NE 10th, Choctaw, Oklahoma with interment at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Burton, Christie Johnson, Marilyn Stallings, and the doctors, nurses and staff of the OU Medical Trauma Center (East).
The family requests that anyone wishing to make financial donations in memory of Karey Rolland to do so through the Caring Adults Supporting Theater (C.A.S.T.) organization of Choctaw High School's Drama Program, 14300 NE 10th, Choctaw, Oklahoma, 73020. Donations can be made in three forms: 1) contributions directly for the family; or, 2) the Karey Rolland Memorial Drama Fund for the purchase of show related items for drama students in need; or, 3) the Karey Rolland Memorial Dance Fund for help with dance students in need.
