Lola Oneta Strickland Morrissey was born November 1, 1935 in Durham, OK to Lois Pearl Aubrey and K.C. "Jack" Strickland. She was the oldest of four siblings whom she loved very much. She graduated from Central High School in OKC in 1954 and was proud to be a lifelong Cardinal. She worked for Coast to Coast Burgers, Bankers Service Life, and Oklahoma City Public Schools. She married James O. Morrissey at her parent’s home in OKC on Nov. 23, 1961. They were blessed with three children Michael O. Morrissey, Kevin O. Morrissey and Michelle O. Morrissey. Mom lived her life the way she wanted as a loving wife, devoted mother and loyal friend. She was a gentle and loving soul who never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She had a forgiving spirit and selfless heart. There was never a better mother.
Mom and Dad taught us by word and deeds to love the Lord, put family first, and the importance of honor and good character. Mom was always there for us with a loving embrace and words of comfort and advice. As much as she loved being a mom, she loved being Grandma to Kieran and Kaelin Morrissey even more. Mom fought long and hard the last few years to have more time with the family she loved.
She is survived by her children Michael Morrissey, Kevin Morrissey and his wife Roxi, grandchildren Kieran and Kaelin Morrissey, and daughter, Michelle Morrissey, brother, Jimmie "Gene" Strickland, sisters-in-law, Carole Strickland and Mary Strickland. We take comfort in knowing that she is whole again and with those she loved and who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, James Morrissey, her parents and her much loved brothers, Charles "Eddie" Strickland and Carl Dean Strickland
