Donald Ray Menefee, age 85, of Newcastle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 31, 2017.

Don was born April 12, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was one of 14 children born to John Bennett Menefee and Gladys Cleo (Setzer) Menefee. Don grew up in OKC and attended N. E. High School. On December 21, 1950, Don married the love of his life, Jo Ann Brandon and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. As a young man he began working at Downtown Chevrolet before becoming a parts and equipment salesman of tractor trailers. He worked for American Trailers for 23 years. After American Trailers he worked at Hobbs Trailers for 3 years and then City Springs Truck Parts for the next 11 years until he retired in 1995.

In 1960, Don was ordained as a deacon at Carey Heights Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. There he taught Sunday school and led music. Don and Jo Ann moved to Newcastle in 1973 and became a faithful member at Newcastle First Baptist Church. He continued being a deacon and also sang in the choir.

Don was a proud father of five children. When the children were younger he always enjoyed camping and fishing with them.

He was preceded in death by: His parents, John and Gladys Menefee; His wife, Jo Ann Menefee in 2012; His daughter, Rosanna Kay Brewer; and six grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Bonnie, Jodie, Eric and Amber.

He is survived by: His four sons; Don Menefee and wife Pat of Oklahoma City, Wesley Menefee of Newcastle, Larry Menefee of Oklahoma City, Kirk Menefee and wife Brenda of Newcastle. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, other in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Newcastle First Baptist Church with Reverend Jeremy Freeman officiating.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services are under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home, Newcastle, Oklahoma.
