John Robert "Buddy" Martin

John Robert “Buddy” Martin left his earthly home on January 1, 2016 at the age of 92. He was born July 9, 1923 in Caruthersville, Missouri.

After graduating Caruthersville High School, Buddy joined the US Army Air Corps during WWII, serving from 1942 to 1945. While serving his country in WWII, he earned the Victory, American Campaign and Good Conduct Medals, Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 bronze stars and the Air Medal with 4 oak-leaf clusters.

On April 18, 1950, Buddy married the love of his life, Margaret Poe. He worked as state manager for the L.B. Price Mercantile Company, he and Margaret moved to Oklahoma City in 1961.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Martin; sons, Jack Martin and wife Suzanne and Ron Martin and wife Tina; daughter, Melody Wright and husband Ken; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

The family would like to recognize the loving care Buddy received from the staff of both the Norman Veterans’ Center and Oklahoma Hospice.

A visitation will be held Thursday from 9am-1pm at the Resthaven Funeral home. A celebration of his life with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens
