Bobby Lee Diehm
Oct 15, 1925 - Mar 17, 2015
Posted by: Janet Laubhan Flickinger
He leaves his loving wife of 28 years, Liz Diehm; daughter Cindy Ferguson, son
Randy Diehm and wife Donna, stepdaughter Candy Reece and husband Bob, stepson
Ted Moore; grandchildren Craig Diehm, Jennifer Thorstad and husband Chili,
Kristen Starcevich and husband Johnny, Brittany Ferguson, Jennifer Willis and 3
precious great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his “adopted” son, friend,
and business associate Bobby Militar, numerous cousins from the loving Morren
clan and his miniature dachshunds, Abby & Katie.
Bob was born October 15, 1925 in Norman. After graduation from Norman High, Bob
and three of his high school buddies joined the United States Coast Guard during
World War II. After serving his country, Bob began a career in sales from
ceiling tiles to surplus sales, eventually opening his first floor covering
store in 1969 in Norman, D&D Carpet & Tile.
Bob retired briefly from the carpet store and partnered with his friend, Jess
Reed in 1987 with KinderCare Day Care Centers for nationwide renovations. In
1992, Bob & Liz opened Bob Diehm Flooring and sold it in 1996.
Bob tried retirement again, but his clients and contractors kept calling so Bob
& Liz started Commercial Floors of Oklahoma and it is still alive and well
today.
Bob was an avid sports fan and loved boxing, bowling, wrestling, football and
golf. He was a regular watcher of Wheel of Fortune for the past 15 years. Bob
loved spending time with this precious family and pups.
Bob had a special group of friends we affectionately call “the Geezers”. For the
past 6 years, 10 World War II veterans have met weekdays at 1pm at McDonald’s on
Lindsey to have senior coffee and solve all the world and local problems. With
Bob’s passing, there are only 3 left.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2pm at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior
Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or (877) 832-6997.
