James Berry Burton, 87, passed away Sept. 23, 2010 in Tyler, TX.He was born June 21, 1923 in Benton, AR to John and Euphia (Berry) Burton. He was a former resident of OKC for over 60 years. James proudly served in the US Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He was a member of Christs Legacy Church where he served as usher and was active in the Prime Timers. He was a member of the VFW and Masons.
James was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children, Thelma Loujean Burton, second wife, Virginia Mae Burton, brother, J.C. Burton, and sister, Nancy Jane Mailand.
James is survived by his son, Larry Burton and wife Brenda; daughter, Karen Parker and husband Jim; sister, Ruth Staton; grandchildren, Jill Folsom, Devon Parker, Jeff Neal, Kelli Courtney, Misty Thompson and Melissa Whitus; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 12-9pm with the family receiving friends from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be at 10am, Mon., Sept. 27 at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment to follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society.
