She was born December 27, 1947 in Jay, Oklahoma to D.C. and Gladys Owens.
Rose was raised in Jay, Oklahoma and graduated in 1965 from Larned High School in Larned, Kansas. She earned her Bachelor’s degree as a Registered Nurse from the University of Kansas. After completing her degree she did her internship working at the Potawatomi and Kickapoo Reservations during the summer. She lived most of her adult life in the Little Axe area until moving to Edmond in 2016 to be closer to her son, Justin.
Rose moved to Shawnee and worked for Shawnee Medical Center until 1975 when she went to work for the United Tribes for the Shawnee area where she met her future husband Jim Little Jim. She married Jim Little Jim and he preceded her in death in June of 1993. Rose was a homemaker until 1989 when she returned to her nursing career as the Pediatric Charge Nurse at Norman Regional Hospital until she retired in 2003.
She loved gardening flowers, reading, watching OKC Thunder, music, and was an avid fan of the Kansas Jayhawks. Rose especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; they were the focal point of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Little Jim; her son, Quanah Parker; and her parents.
Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dee Ann and Eric Rigg of Shawnee, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Justin Little Jim and Trista Boehmisch of Edmond, OK; 4 grandchildren, Blaine, Blake, Savanna and Siena; brother, Doug Owens; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 and continue until service time. Family gathering to meet with friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Countryside Church with Dan Maxwell officiating.
Burial will follow at Little Jim Family Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
