Yvonne Jo Woodrow, 83, left this life to join her Lord October 30, 2010, in Norman.  She was born September 20, 1927, to Leonard and Ida Marie Wilder

Yvonne attended Norman Public Schools through graduation and was a twirler in the Norman High School Band.  She married David L. Woodrow, Sr. on October 6, 1945. Besides living briefly in Colorado, Yvonne & David resided in Norman. Yvonne held numerous jobs that included Mistletoe Express, Norman Municipal Hospital and Streets Dept. Store. Her primary job was being a devoted mother to her four children.  Yvonne was an active member of First Christian Church, Homemakers Extension 24 group, and the Red Hatter’s Society.  She volunteered numerous places including Sam Noble History Museum and Norman Regional Hospital.  David & Yvonne loved to travel in their motor home.  When she wasn’t traveling with David, she enjoyed get-togethers with their many friends and family, shopping, garage sales & craft shows.  Yvonne was an exceptional angel for her late husband, David, during his extended illness; her quiet dignity, grace, and strength were an inspiration to her family.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 1/2 years, David; her parents; brother, LeRoy “Buddy” Wilder and his wife Genette; in-laws, Tommy & Mary Woodrow; sister-in-law, Wanda Collett; and brother-in-law, Col. Gene Morgan; and brother-in-law, Nolan Grissom.

She is survived by her loving children, David L. Woodrow, Jr. and his wife Nancy; Kenneth L. Woodrow and his wife, Ann; Sandy Chenot and her husband, Alan; and Michael L. Woodrow and his wife, Denise.   She is also survived by her grandchildren, Heather, Amy, Kyle and his wife, Amber; Clif, David, Allison, Jace, Addie and Erin; a brother, Larry Wilder; her sisters-in-laws, Patty Merkle and her husband, Joe; Betty Morgan; JoNell Grissom; and Janie Murphy and her husband, Marc; and brother-in-law, Ronny Collett; her 13 nieces and nephews; and her beloved alley cat, Spotty.

The family would like to express special gratitude to Grace Living Center and The Gardens at the Rivermont for their loving care and support these last couple of years.  Also, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Yvonne’s memory to First Christian Church, 220 South Webster Avenue, Norman, OK  73069.

Pallbearers will be Marc Murphy, Alan Chenot, Kyle Catt, Clif Woodrow, David Chenot, and Jace Woodrow.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Merkle, Leroy Stibbens, Ronny Collett.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, at First Christian Church, 220 S. Webster, Norman with interment following in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Norman under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
