Barbara Joan Tarbet, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 5.Barbara was born in Norman, to
Frank and Nelma Tarbet. She graduated from Norman High and
began working at the Norman Public Library. After 43 years,
she retired so she could care for her parents. She loved
reading, watching sports of all kinds, especially her
Sooners, and was the family historian. Barbara attended the
First Church of God in Norman, where she taught Sunday
School and took care of all of the babies in the nursery for
years. She was loved by many and was always referred to as
“Aunt Barbara.”
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her sister,
Jerrie Waddle and brother-in-law, Don Waddle.
She is
survived by her niece, Cheryl Barton and husband, Rick;
nephews Mike Waddle and wife, Melinda; Chris Waddle and
husband Kevin Harden; six great nieces and nephews, 3
great-great nieces and nephew, and 3 more on the way and her
very special cousin, Sharon Stone and husband Jack.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8 from 5-7 p.m.,
with a celebration of her life on Tuesday, December 9 at
10:00 a.m. at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
