Funeral services
for Mrs. Maymie J. Stansberry, age 82, of Norman will begin at 10:00 am Monday,
April 22, 2013 in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook
Street in Norman with Reverend Bruce Ingram officiating.
Maymie was born October 4, 1930, in Prague, Oklahoma, the daughter of Harry
Bryan and Pearl Eliza (Leonard) Hayes. She passed away Thursday evening, April
18, 2013 at Norman Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Maymie was united in marriage to Mr. Aubrey Eugene “Gene” Stansberry on August
17, 1946 in Lawton, Oklahoma. They moved to Iowa for a brief time before moving
back to Oklahoma, settling in Norman in 1949. Maymie spent most of her time at
home, taking care of her three children, Cindi, Carol, and Randall. She also
was employed as a clerk with the Norman Retail Men’s Credit Bureau for 11 years,
retiring in 1976.
In retirement, Maymie enjoyed reading, crocheting, and being with her family,
preparing and serving home cooked meals. She was a member of Trinity Baptist
Church, volunteering in the church nursery for many years.
Maymie is survived by her son, Randall Stansberry and his wife, Diane of Norman,
Oklahoma; one sister, Loretta Richardson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one son-in-law,
Don Jewell of Noble, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Sam Wampler and his wife,
Lori of Oklahoma City, Brent Jewell and his wife, Lori of Norman, Oklahoma,
Charm Fakhrshafaei and her husband, Reza of Oklahoma City, Beth Mitchell, and
her husband, Jarryl of Norman, Oklahoma, Amy Jewell of Norman, Oklahoma, Shannon
Benson of Norman, Oklahoma, and Brian Stansberry of Norman, Oklahoma; 11 great
grandchildren, Rachael, Emily, Kamron, Kyle, Cyn-Tia, Spencer, Gage, Caleb,
Kayla, Josh, and Morgan.
Maymie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Stansberry; her
two daughters, Cindi Wampler, and Carol Jewell; one brother, Harry Hayes; one
sister, Wanda Stewart; and one grandson-in-law, Todd Benson.
Burial concludes in the Norman I.O.O.F
Cemetery. Arrangements for Maymie and her family were placed in the care
of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Online condolences
