Margaret L. Smith,
90, passed away March 21, 2015 in St. Louis, MO. She was born in Ada, Oklahoma
to Lottie Lea and Robert W. Bradley who moved the family with seven children to
Norman in 1936.
Margaret will be remembered by many as Cleveland County Treasurer for many
years. It was her strong will and determination to achieve and always ‘do the
right thing’ that, after working in the treasurer’s office for several years,
she was elected and reelected to be the Cleveland County Treasurer until her
retirement.
She was endeared by her family, gracious neighbors, and many friends and
associates.
Margaret was married to O.B. Smith, a retired Oklahoma State Patrolman and
Cleveland County Deputy Sheriff until his death.
Later she married William O. Whitehurst who also preceded her in death.
She enjoyed many fishing trips and other travels with her extended family.
Margaret is immediately survived by her brother Joe A. Bradley of Denver, CO. In
addition she will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and
nephews whom she cherished.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 28 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel,
Norman. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F.
Cemetery in Norman.
