Shepherd, Genievee,
86, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born
September 29, 1925 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to John and Nannie (Blevins)
Thompson. She was united in marriage on October 31, 1952 in Norman to D. C.
Shepherd.
Genievee played basketball for Pauls Valley High School and was recruited by the
Arkansas Red Heads. She was a secretary for the Kerr-McGee Petroleum Co.
retiring in 1989. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and decorating her home.
Genievee loved spending time with her family and cherished her animal, Brandi
Ann. She will be remembered for her fun loving spirit and her good sense of
humor.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Owen and husband Gary of Norman and
Twanna Hanley and husband Jim Denton of Norman; three sisters, Hazel Henning of
Lexington, Oleta Irby of Lexington and Sue Hooper of Norman; one grandchild,
Tricia Mullaney and husband Paul; one great grandchild, Jordon Davis.
She is
preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roy Lee Shelton; her second
husband, D. C. Shepherd; brothers, George Thompson and Joe Thompson; and niece,
Mitzi Thompson.
Donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 4500 24th Ave. NW,
Norman, OK 73069 or the Noble Wildcare Foundation, 7601 84th St., Noble, OK
73068.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2012 at I.O.O.F.
Cemetery of Norman. Arrangements for Genievee and her family have been placed
in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
