LT. COL (Ret) Jack
O. Ray, 90, of Norman, OK passed from this life on February 5, 2015. He was born
October 20, 1924 in Maysville, OK to Fred and Ruth Ray.
Jack served 2 years in the Navy during WWII and during that time made 7 major
landings in the Pacific. After serving in the Navy, he went into the Army where
he served 22 years as a pilot with tours in both Korea and Vietnam. Jack’s first
love was flying, and after he retired from the army he became a private pilot.
Jack was the ultimate OU Sooner fan. He attended every home football game for
60+ years and also enjoyed OU basketball. He was also an excellent golfer. In
his retirement, he flew for the OU Athletic Department and the Governor’s
office.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Ray; sister, Cappy East;
mother of his children, Pauline Ray; granddaughter, Dawn Christina.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sue Ray; sons, Jack (Butch) Ray and Sharron,
Chuck Ray and Carol and Kevin Ray and Lisa; daughter, Jo Anne Battles and Chuck;
grandchildren, Brian Ray, Blake Ray, Christopher Ray, Meghan Tilford, Leslie
Jarrett, Aubrey Rackham, Travis Williams, Michael Ray, Melissa Exum and K.O.
Ray; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Chasity, Omar, David, Jack, Harley, Parker,
Allie, Emma, Mason, Brandon, Caban and Padraid; great-great grandchildren;
Jaden, Logan and Izzy; When Jack and Sue married, he was blessed with 4 more
sons; Michael Marler, Jeremy Marler, Jason Marler and Josh Marler; and 9
grandchildren; Estella, Sierra, Alex, Mikayla, Blake, Jabe, Seth, Laney, and
Kyler.
Visitation for Jack will be Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 3:00PM to 8:00PM at
Havenbrook Funeral Home.
The family will receive guests from 4:00PM-6:00PM.
Services for Jack will be 2:00PM, Monday, February 9, 2015 at First Baptist
Church in Moore.
Interment will follow
at IOOF Cemetery in Norman. Condolences may be shared at

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jack’s name to
World Vision International in care of Havenbrook Funeral Home 3401 Havenbrook
St, Norman, OK.
