Clyde Mendenhall Posey, 93, of Norman, Ok. passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016.
He was born August 30, 1922 on a farm near Pond Creek, Okla., the son of George A. and Nellie Posey. He is a 1940 graduate of Ringwood High School. He served in the Navy during WWII, from 1942 to 1946. Following the war, he established Clyde’s Garage in Nash, which he operated until 1983. Clyde also served on the Nash Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, from 1953 to 1973. From 1960 until 1981, Clyde served as an assistant rural mail carrier. In 1981, he became a full-time mail carrier in Nash, transferring to Marlow, Okla., in 1982. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1988, and moved to Norman, Okla.
Clyde married Irene Lamberth March 31, 1947, and later married Ann Poole Feb. 27, 1981.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, seven brothers and three sisters, and his wife Ann.
Clyde is survived by his four children, Lyle (Liz) Posey of Westminster, Co.;
Steve (Carolyn) Posey of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Anita (Monty) Hoffsommer of Liberty,
Mo.; and Harold “Hal” (Cindi) Posey of Edmond, Okla. He has eight grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at
Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Graveside Services will begin at 2:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, April 6, 2016 officiated by his son Steve Posey, at I.O.O.F.
Cemetery.
Memorial Services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2016 officiated by Pastor Richard Craven, at Nash Christian Church. Memorials may be made in memory of Clyde Posey to the Integris Hospice House or charity of choice. Arrangements for Clyde Posey and his family were placed in the care of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
