Bettye Dunn-Parks age 80 of Lexington, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Purcell Municipal Hospital. She was born on February 8, 1934 in Payne, Oklahoma. She was the 3rd child of six children born to William Earkley Dunn and Dorothy (Hanley) Dunn. Bettye spent her early childhood years in Alabama and on a farm southwest of Purcell where she attended a small country school near Criner. She later attended the Purcell Schools where she graduated with the class of 1952. After high school she attended an out of state insurance school to be able to work in the insurance business. She returned to Purcell and worked nearly 15 years for Willa Dean Barger Insurance Agency and later for Russell Insurance Agency. After leaving the insurance business she went to work at the Norman Regional Hospital as a Telephone Operator, working there for nearly 10 years. Lastly she worked as a secretary for the Oklahoma State Department of Mental Health in Norman, where she retired. Bettye was a faithful Christian throughout her life. She had been a member of Alameda Baptist Church in Norman for many years before attending the Slaughterville Baptist Church. Because of her failing health, she has lived and been cared for by the wonderful staff at the Lexington Nursing Home for the past seven years. For her enjoyment she loved to watch O.U. football and was an avid fan she also liked to keep busy by crocheting, working crossword puzzles and watching “The Price Is Right”. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, William and Dorothy Dunn; Three brothers, James, William and Reas Dunn; Two sisters, Jackie Dunn and Debbie Johnson;

She is survived by: One sister, Sandra Lawson of Lawton; Two sisters-in-law, Kathy Dunn of Norman, Lora Mae Dunn of Lindsay; One step-sister, Gayle Caskey and husband Harold of Lexington; Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Slaughterville Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Norman I.O.O. F. Cemetery.
