Dora Jorine House
McConville, 81 of Norman, OK died on January 10, 2014 in Norman. Services are
10:00AM, Friday, January 16, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Norman. Burial will
follow at IOOF Cemetery in Norman.
Havenbrook Funeral Home to handle arrangements.
Ms. McConville was born October 24, 1933 in Norman, OK at 803 Monet Street to
Thomas R. House and Ruth Bunnell House. She was raised by her father’s sister,
Mrs. Florence Wilkerson and husband John A. Wilkerson of Norman.
Jorine attended Norman Public Schools graduating in 1951 from Norman High. She
graduated Draughon Business School in OK. She was active in Norman High Glee
Club, Norman Band, Pep Club and a 7-year member of the Oklahoma City Scottish
Kiltie Band, sponsored by American Legion Post 35. The band, an all-girl unit
traveled with the OC Chamber of Commerce 3 times yearly all over OK. On 3-day
Goodwill Tours. They also traveled to Texas and St. Louis through the American
Legion Post. Dora Jorine was elected Drum Major for two years and was featured
dancer of the Highland Fling, Sword Dance and an Interpretive Ballet Indian
Dance, which was also performed at half time at OU Basketball games and other
functions around Norman.
Jorine was a member of the Choctaw Tribe, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She was a
member of Trinity Baptist Church, baptized at First Baptist at the age of 12
years. Most recently, attending the First Baptist Church.
Ms. McConville was preceded in death by her father, Thomas House; Aunt, Florence
Wilkerson; Uncle, John Wilkerson and younger sister, Ruth “Bunny” House.
She is
survived by her son, Thomas Hugh of Norman; grandson, Ryan Thomas of Longmont,
CO; daughter, Kelly Lea Pennello; granddaughters Paige Jordanne and Alexis
Nicole of Murrieta, CA; nephews, cousins and dear friends Mary and Bob Kremer of
Tuttle, OK.
