Loudermilk, Jim,
72, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born
October 25, 1939 in Hartford, Arkansas to Elcania and Ethel (Hatcher) Loudermilk.
Jim was united in marriage on November 3, 1961 in Lomita, California to Ethel
“Sam” Melton.
Jim served his country in the United States Marines and was a general contractor
in the residential and commercial construction business for 30 years before
retiring in 1996. He was a true craftsman who enjoyed building things and loved
learning about history. He was a real gentleman who cared for his family and
friends and never met a stranger. Jim will be remembered for his love of the
Lord, his courage and goodness and his great sense of humor.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sam Loudermilk of the home; one son, Mark
Loudermilk of Brooklyn, New York; two daughters, Pamela Smith and her fiance,
John Rhodes; and Catherine Davison and husband Vic of Norman; two brothers, Bob
Loudermilk and wife Barbara of Claremore, OK; and Wayne Loudermilk and wife
Lilia of Norman; three sisters, Mildred Haggard of Seminole, OK; Vivian Smith of
Shawnee, OK; and Rose Longfield and husband Charles of Oregon; four
grandchildren, Emilio Davison, Blake Damery, Soraya Davison and Leanna Davison;
and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his
parents and one sister, Hedy Martin in August of 2011.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 in the Chapel
of the Havenbrook Funeral Home with interment following in the
I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Norman.
Arrangements for Jim and his family were placed in the care of the Vice Family
at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
