Kennedy, Louis J., 81, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in
Norman, Oklahoma. He was born February 21, 1930 in
Lexington, Oklahoma to Oliver and Florence (Holcomb)
Kennedy. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Clinkenbeard
on February 17, 1949 in Norman, OK, and had just celebrated
62 wonderful years together.
Louis served as a carpenter's apprentice before becoming a
carpenter, foreman and building superintendent for Manhattan
and Barbour & Short Construction Companies retiring in
1991. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local Union 1062
and 329 for 58 years, Loyal Order of the Moose and the
Moose Legion where he held many offices, the Murray County
Tractor and Implement Association, Oklahoma Farming Heritage
Association an the Canadian Rivers Old Iron Club. He shared
his interests while putting on demonstrations of vintage
farm equipment for schools. Louis enjoyed farming and
ranching, fishing and restoring antique farm equipment. He
was involved with ham radio and was a member of SCARS and
CORA organizations. Louis was a member of the Bethelaires
and the Senior Adult Advisory Council at Bethel Baptist
Church.
Louis is survived by his wife, Kathryn Kennedy of the home;
three daughters, Janice Simms and husband Loren of Norman,
Kathy May and husband Gary of Fishers, IN and Karen Massey
and husband John of Norman; his twin sister, Louise Sides of
Norman; sister-in-law, Ann Kennedy; six grandchildren, Marty
Coltrane, Christopher Simms, Jason Merritt, Stephen Massey,
Curtis Massey and wife Melody and Jennifer Merritt; one
great grandchild, DJ Merritt; and numerous nieces, nephews,
aunts, uncles and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Linda Coltrane and his brother, Charles Kennedy.

Kathryn June (Clinkenbeard) Kennedy 86, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born in Norman on August 10, 1929 to Charles and Odessa Clinkenbeard.
She was united in marriage to
Louis John Kennedy on February 17, 1949 in Norman. They were married 63 years.
Kathryn attended Norman Public School. She attended St. Anthony School of
Nursing and the University of Oklahoma where she attended business classes. She
was a nurse and homemaker for many years. She worked in the accounting
department at the OU Physical Plant for 18 years until her retirement in
September 1987.
She was a member of the Loyal Oder of the Moose #1799 and the Moose Legion where
she held many offices. She enjoyed camping while a member of the Normanite
Camper Club. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of the
Bethelaires. Until recently she was active in the Murray County Tractor and
Implement Association.
Kathryn is survived by three daughters, Janice Simms and husband Loren of
Norman; Kathy May of Fishers, IN; Karen Massey and husband John of Norman; six
grandchildren, Marty Coltrane, Christopher Simms, Jason Merritt, Jennifer
Merritt, Stephen Massey and wife Kelli, Curtis Massey and wife Melody; two
great- grandchildren, Donovan (DJ) Merritt and Harlee Massey; nieces, nephews
and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Linda Coltrane;
sister Charlene Manning; brothers, Robert L. and Bill G. Clinkenbeard.
Service is under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home. Open visitation will
be Monday 12:00 – 8:00 pm. Family will welcome friends and relatives between
6:00-8:00pm
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10:00 in the
Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the IOOF Cemetery, Norman,
Oklahoma.
