Graveside services for Mrs. Eva Marie (Chilless) Gee, age 86, a lifelong resident of Norman, will be be at 10:00 am Monday, November 29, 2010 at the I.O.O.F Cemetery, 1913 North Porter, Norman, OK with Pastor Wade Smith officiating.

Marie was born January 16, 1924 in Norman, Oklahoma the daughter of William H. and Cora B. (Smith) Chilless.  She passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2010 in the presence of her family and friends. 

Marie was educated in the Norman Public School Systems, graduating from Norman High School in 1942.  She began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1946, working in various positions, before retiring in 1983 after more the 37 years of service.
Marie was united in marriage to Harold Gee in 1975 and the two of them traveled extensively across North America.  She also enjoyed reading, making lunch engagements with her many friends, and actively participating in  Sunday School,  The Ladies Open Sunday School Class from the First Baptist Church of Norman.  Her most favorite past time, however, was being in the presence of her family.  Marie enjoyed laughing, visiting, and sharing her smile with whomever she was with. Her smile was contagious and would light up any room.  She loved and lived everyday to the fullest and had a zest for life.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Marie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norman, and the Telephone Pioneers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Gee in 1998; one son, Charles Michael Burks on January 28, 2009; one sister, Hazel Chilless and one brother, Carl Chilless.

Survivors include her son, Joe Burks and his wife, Jan of Norman; eight grandchildren; Bobby Burks and his wife, Katie of Sugarland, TX; Cindy Marquardt and her husband, Brian of Brenham, TX; Brian Burks and his wife, Shelly of Norman, OK; Aaron Burks and his wife, Deborah of Broken Arrow, OK; Blake Burks of Norman, OK; Kc Burks of Norman, OK; Stephanie Stallsmith and her husband, Jay of Bixby, OK and Stacy Bruce and her husband, Shannon of Norman, OK; 11 great- grandchildren; Sydney and Brady Burks; Emily and Macie Burks; Matthew and Andrew Marquardt; Lily Burks; Reed and Ryan Stallsmith; and Madison and Landon Bruce.

The family will greet friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Marie Gee to the First Baptist Church of Norman, Oklahoma.
