Edward A. Garling, 87, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away on June 16, 2013 at Noble Healthcare Center in Noble, Oklahoma.
He was born to William Edward Garling and Lillian Hoffmann
on December 30, 1925 in Norman, Oklahoma. Ed enjoyed square dancing and he loved
helping others with all kinds of mechanical and building projects. He was an
active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Silver Spur Square Dance Club. He
was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Norman, Oklahoma for 25 years. Ed
especially loved and admired his children, grandchildren, and two great
grandchildren. On December 28, 1947 he married Mary Lou McMahan and they shared
62 years of marriage until her passing in 2010.
He is survived by his children, James Garling and wife Doris, Debra Johnson and
husband Ed, Charles Garling and wife Carla, daughter-in-law Nancy Loyd and
husband Henry; grandchildren Scott Garling, Brad Garling and wife Amber, Kevin
Garling, Nathan Johnson and wife Ashley, Tyler Garling, Garrett Johnson; great
grandson James Bradley Garling and great granddaughter Scarlett Dawn Garling.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, son, John Garling, and his
parents.
Memorial Donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Endowment Fund in Memory of
Ed Garling.
Arrangements for Ed and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at
the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Services will be held 2:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, Oklahoma.
Interment will follow at Norman IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be held
from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Havenbrook Funeral
Home; the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
