Ron Ditzler, 62
died early Friday, 1 April, 2011 in Norman, OK. Ronald Charles “Ron” Ditzler
was born June 16, 1948 in Norman, Oklahoma – son of Raymond Charles Ditzler
and his wife Christine. Ron attended John Adams Elementary school, West Jr.
High and Norman High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in Jan, 1965 and served a
tour of duty in Vietnam aboard the destroyer USS Mansfield, 1966. His rate in
the Navy was Ship Fitter and after his discharge, he returned to Oklahoma where
he completed training as a plumber’s apprentice. As a licensed plumber, he
worked for numerous companies in construction of schools and notable buildings
such as OU’s Energy Resource Center. In addition, Ron worked on the Alaskan
pipeline and traveled to Saudi Arabia on other contract work. The last 15 years
he worked for the Oklahoma City Schools.
Ron was preceded in death by an older brother Ramon Lee Ditzler in 1996 – and
his Mother Christine in 1998. He is survived by his Father, Ray Ditzler and
stepmother Janell; two sisters, Donna Crandell and Darlene Swim with her husband
Curtis; and his younger brother Gil Ditzler. Ron was very proud of his three
sons – Ronald C. Ditzler Jr., Randall C. Ditzler and Ryan C. Ditzler. Ron
loved and adored his four grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives and many
friends.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Sunday, April 3, 2011
at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St. Graveside services will be held
2:00 P.M., Monday, April 4, 2011 at IOOF
cemetery, located at the intersection of West Rock Creek Road and 1913 North
Porter Street in Norman. Arrangements are under the direction of
Havenbrook Funeral Home.
