Dorthy Joyce Davis age 82 of Moore, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
She was born May 10, 1934 in Union City, Oklahoma. She was the 2nd child of six children born to Allie Roscoe Hendrix and Audra (Chastain) Hendrix. Dorthy grew up a farm girl near Chickasha. She attended Chickasha High School and graduated with the class of 1952. While in high school she was active in the Pep Club and enjoyed riding horses. In 1954, Dorthy married Claudie L. Parret and together they raised one daughter, Brenda. They moved to California in 1959, and she got a job with Hughes Helicopter. After getting a divorce in 1962 she later met and married Orvil Ray Davis. They were married on Aug. 3, 1968 and continued living in Culver City, CA until 1977. At that time they moved back to Oklahoma and she began working for the Hertz Corp. She later retired from Hertz after working 18 years as a reservation agent. For many years, Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at the Moore Regional Hospital. She also helped on the committee to organize Chickasha High School Reunions and was a member of the Altrusa International in Chickasha. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing and oil painting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcastle and recently became an avid OKC Thunder Fan. Dorthy loved her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Roscoe “Tot” and Audra Hendrix; Husband, Orvil Davis, Brother, Ray Hendrix Sister, Barbara Fitzpatrick;
She is survived by: Daughter, Brenda Williams and husband Tony of Verdigris, OK, Two sisters, Nina Powers of Chickasha, Helen Lindenmuth of Alamo, TX, Brother, Mick Hendrix and wife Laurie of Modesto, CA, Brother-in-law, Lavaughn Fitzpatrick of Rockwell, TX, Sister-in-law, Linda Hendrix Bayles of Hennepen, OK. Five grandchildren, Angela Budden, Breanna Nelson, L. T. Williams, Daron Wright and J. R. Wright. 7 great grandchildren, Heather, Dylan, Jordan, Hunter, Aiden, Jaydan and Andrew. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, Feb, 18, 2017 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
Interment will be at Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
