Funeral
services for Mrs. Norma Jean Carson-Vaughn, 79, of Norman, will be held at 1:00
P.M., Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, 211 W. Comanche,
Norman, Oklahoma.
Norma Jean was born January 11, 1932, the daughter of R.D. And Myrtle (Madden)
Inmon in Norman, Oklahoma. She passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 in Norman,
Oklahoma.
Norma Jean married B. J. (Bob) Carson on March 19, 1951. Bob preceded her in
death on December 15, 1989. Norma Jean and Bob had three children, Mike, Becky
and Kathy.
Norma Jean and Doug Vaughn met while square dancing with the Silver Spurs and
were married on August 31, 1990. Norma became a step mother to Doug's children,
Lonnie and Charla.
Norma Jean loved her family and especially her relationship with her children
and grandchildren. Her hobbies included painting, ceramics and playing with her
two cats. She loved life and enjoyed whatever she was involved with. She was a
member of First Baptist Church and really appreciated the Sunday services at
Rivermont Retirement Center.
Norma Jean is survived by her husband Doug Vaughn of the home; one son, Mike
Carson and his wife Edna; two daughters, Becky Porter and her husband Jess; and
Kathy Kinkead and her husband Will; six grandchildren; Matt Carson, Leigh Anne
Carson, Michael Porter, Bryan Porter and his wife Stephanie, Luke Kinkead and
Rebecca Kinkead; two sisters, Phyllis Knott and her husband Bervin, and Betty
Coleman and her husband Doyle all of Norman,Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, Jack
Carson and his wife Betty of Noble, Oklahoma; one step-son, Lonnie Vaughn and
his wife Candy of Nashville, Tennessee; one step-daughter, Charla Forrester and
her husband Brent of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and two step grandchildren, Kyle
Forrester and Heather Forrester, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Bob, Norma Jean was preceded in death by her
parents.
A private committal service will conclude in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman,
Oklahoma under the direction of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. The
Family would like to thank Dr. Steve Lindsey, her physician for 30 years.
Memorials may be made to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, 4500 24th Avenue
Northwest, Norman, Oklahoma 73069.
