Brown, Oleta, 76, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Norman, Oklahoma. 

She was born January 31, 1936 in Dibble, Oklahoma to Alfred Franklin and Bessie Jane (Gray) Ward.  She attended schools in Tuttle and Norman, graduating from Norman High School.  She was united in marriage on January 3, 1957 to Neal Brown.  They celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends.
Oleta was a member of Alameda Church of Christ in Norman where she enjoyed her life group, and volunteer work in the Streams of Waters and Whiz Kids.  She loved her trips to Branson, Missouri with her husband Neal, Celia Brown and Lana Kelly.  Oleta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Neal Brown. 

Oleta is survived by her children, Brenda Smith of Norman, Oklahoma,  Dr. Roger and Lonia Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Christy and Chad Threet of Austin, Texas; brother, Alfred Ward of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and special cousins, Edward and Pam Gilley and Pauline Rowland; grandchildren, Justin and Eva Brown of Flower Mound, Texas, Neelie Brown of Dallas, Texas, Jacquelyn Brown of Houston, Texas, Dr. Stephen and Megan Taylor of Yukon, Oklahoma, Maci Smith of Norman, Oklahoma, and Addison and Wescot Threet of Austin, Texas; great grandchildren, Jack, Sophia, and Jefferson Boone Brown of Flower Mound, Texas and Brody Taylor of Yukon, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

Oleta and her family would like to thank her Alameda life group for their many prayers, visits, gifts and cards.  Special appreciation to Ella Dougherty, Kathy Holt, Celia Brown, Lana Kelly, Cindy Henry, and Edward and Pam Gilley for their continued support and kindness.  We would also like to thank Dr. Stephen G. Lindsey and Dr. Jesus Medina for their many years of care and kindness and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Norman Specialty Hospital for her excellent and compassionate end of life care.

Contributions in memory of Oleta Brown may be made to Alameda Church of Christ, Streams of Waters. 

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013 with family greeting friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.  

Services for Oleta will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel, Norman with interment immediately following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Norman.   Arrangements for Oleta and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family and Havenbrook Funeral Home.
