Gary Wayne Blough was born August 31, 1946 in Weatherford, OK. He died April 8, 2017, in Norman, OK.
Gary is the son of Ray Allen Blough and Fern Iodell Ashurst Blough. A 1964
graduate of Weatherford High School, Gary also attended SWOSU where he studied
art, receiving his Associates Degree.
Gary married Donette Kay Levally in 1965. In October of 1966, Gary and Donette
became the proud parents of Joe Ray Blough. They were blessed with the birth of
their second son, Jefferey Wayne Blough in December 1970.
Gary enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard in 1964. He served with the Guard
until retiring in 2006, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. Upon his
retirement, Gary continued his service to his state and country working in
civilian capacity at the National Guard's maintenance facility in Norman until
2011.
In addition to serving both full time and part time with guard, Gary also worked
for 3M Corporation in Weatherford. He displayed his artistic side working as a
custom jewelry designer for John Roberts at their facilities in Norman and
Austin, TX.
Gary was a man of service. He lived his life to help others. Upon learning of
his death, a friend and fellow soldier said, “he was a good man and a good
soldier." There is no better way to describe Gary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Fern Blough and his mother and
father-in law, Joe and Neta Brendle.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 52
years Donette; Sons Joe Ray Blough and wife Wendy of Goldsby, and Jeffery Wayne
Blough and wife Amy of Newcastle; Grandsons Jacob and wife Alexy of Norman, and
James Blough of Norman; Granddaughters Sarah and Hannah of Goldsby and Blakely
and Laney of Newcastle; As well as, Sammie, his devoted and beloved four-legged
campion.
Gary is also survived by his sister, Linda Blough Millspaugh; Nephews Vernon
Millspaugh and wife Missy (Madison and Christian Millspaugh, Karlie Johnson and
Aubrey Guest), Todd Millspaugh and wife Tiffany (Josh, Parker, "Biggie" and
Alex,) and Chad Millspaugh.
In addition to his family, Gary is survived by many devoted friends and fellow
soldiers.
Services will be held at Havenbrook Funeral Home at 11 am, Wednesday, April
13th. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F in Norman.
For those wishing to honor Gary, the family requests that donations in his
memory be made to Veterans Corner in Goldsby, Oklahoma.
