Wendell Belvin was
born May 25, 1936 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to William G. Belvin and Ruby
Josephine Blevins Belvin. Wendell graduated school in Norman, Oklahoma and
attended The University of Oklahoma, completing college with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Business Administration majoring in Accounting at Oklahoma
City University.
Wendell enlisted in the Navy at the tender age of 16, transferring to the Coast
Guard and completed 6 years of active military service. Upon discharge from
active duty, Wendell joined the Oklahoma National Guard completing an additional
20 years of Military service upon retirement. Wendell retired from the IRS as a
Revenue Agent with the Treasury Department after completing 20 years of service.
Although Wendell did not practice religion on a regular basis, he took theology
Courses while attending The University of Oklahoma and was well versed in the
Bible and lived by its rules.
Wendell met and married Yolanda “Joyce” Belvin during his Coast Guard assignment
in Corpus Christi, Texas and they have celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversary.
Wendell was driven by his goals of achievement in education to better provide
for himself and his family. He attended numerous IRS schools nationwide to
learn and advance in his IRS employment.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents William G. Belvin and Ruby
Josephine Blevins Belvin. He is also preceded in death by his five sisters,
Lahoma Griffin, Lavora Hessel, Tyo Ferrin, Billie Jo Chrysler and Sonja Mae
Grizzle Rucker.
Survivors include son Ronald W. Belvin and wife Michelle Belvin, daughter
Krysten D. Marshall, son Paul D. Belvin; seven grandchildren, Miranda Romero,
Jeremy Belvin, Forrest Anderson, Christian Belvin, Devan Soots, Lauren Soots and
Brandon Marshall; one brother Jimmy Belvin and wife Dee Anna Belvin; five great
grandchildren Alexandra Romero, Jeremiah Romero, Kathleen Franks, Savannah
Belvin, Sydney Belvin, and Maveric Otis Anderson; and one great great grandchild
Tyson James Romero; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be 5-8 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Havenbrook Funeral
Home. Services are 10:00 am Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Chapel of
Havenbrook Funeral Home with interment to follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman,
Oklahoma.
