James M. Battin, 86, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2012 at his home in Norman, OK.
Mr. Battin was born on October 10, 1925 in Hutchinson, KS, to Fred Battin and Ethel
(Gray) Dierking. He grew up in Stafford, Kansas and after his high school
graduation, served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. After his return from the war, he
attended and graduated from Kansas State University and worked as an accountant
for over 50 years in the oil and gas industry. He married Norma Hrabe on March
6, 1952, in Wichita, KS. They were married for 53 years until she passed away in
2006. They moved to Norman in 1976, where he continued his career and also
enjoyed golfing, reading and spending time with his family.
Mr. Battin was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Amos Dierking;
and sister, Pattye Davis.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Dotson and
her husband Robert of Fairfax, VA; Jan Cavender and her husband Gary of Keller,
TX; Susan Dilks and her husband Richard of Owasso, OK; two grandsons, James
Dotson and Warreck Neubauer; and three granddaughters, Kim Dotson, Maegan Dilks,
and Maddie Dilks.
Visitation will be held ll:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2012.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in the Chapel of the
Havenbrook Funeral Home with interment following in the
I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Norman.
Arrangements for James and his family were placed in the care of the Vice
Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
