Verna Mae (Vernie) Bailey passed away on March 1, 2015 in Katy, TX.

Vernie was born on August 8, 1926 to William and Ruth Crozier. She walked 2 miles each way in the wind, rain, and snow to Antelope Hills grade school before graduating from Garber High School in 1944. While attending Central State College in Edmond, she supported the war efforts by working the “swing shift” at Douglas Aircraft. She married Louis Borgman in 1947, made a home in Guthrie, and had one son, Russell. Louis and Vernie parted ways in 1965, and she became an executive secretary at the Dolese company in Oklahoma City.

On May 12, 1969 she married the greatest love of her life, Robert L. “Bob” Bailey. They lived in Norman for many years and led an active social life. She loved playing tennis, bowling, and bridge with her friends. Friday evenings  were special – they always gathered with friends for “happy hour” which usually involved music and singing before the night was over. Bob and Vernie loved traveling to Mexico and Europe, but her three grandchildren (Whitney, Robert, and Ben) gave her the greatest pleasure of all. She loved watching them grow and mature into practicing attorneys.

Vernie is predeceased by 2 brothers, Jack Crozier, Leroy Crozier, and one sister, Darlene Semrad.

Vernie is survived by her younger sister, Shirley Burnett, husband of 45 years, Robert Bailey, son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Laine Borgman, Bob’s son and daughter-in-law, Lindsay and Deanna Bailey, grandchildren Whitney Borgman, Robert Bailey II, and Benjamin Bailey, numerous extended family members, and many devoted friends. She loved them all with great passion.
