Elizabeth Susan Reese Allen was born June 27, 1926, in Chickasha, OK, and went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2013 in Norman, Oklahoma.

She grew up in Chickasha and enjoyed taking piano lessons, music, rhetoric, and drama.  She was proud to have performed in dramatic productions in high school and college.

She attended the University of Oklahoma before moving to New York City.  While in New York City she worked at the National Council of Churches.

She later moved to Glendale, Arizona and worked at Sunnyslope High School before returning to Chickasha, and graduating from Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma.  She then was employed by the University of Oklahoma in several positions including departmental secretary, office manager and academic counselor.

She retired from the University to care for her mother until she passed away at age 99.  First and foremost, she was a selfless person who put her family’s interests in front of her own.  She offered encouraging words in a quiet way that seemed to make the world a better place for those around her.  She was very steady and reliable and was always there for her son and grandsons.  Her grandsons recently graduated and she read and edited their papers as recently as the previous semester.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Katherine Carrie Goodwyn Reese Kirby and Erick Lee Reese; and her sister, Katherine Lee Tracy.

She is survived by her son, Reese Allen of Norman, Oklahoma; grandsons, Joseph Allen and Daniel Allen of Norman, Oklahoma; and her nieces and nephews, Anita Kathleen Durst, Gina Maria Lay, Jodi Tracy-Aviles, and T. Paul Tracy, all of Hawaii.

Services are 10:00 AM Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Chapel of Havenbrook Funeral Home with interment to follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Arrangements for Elizabeth and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
