Isaac O. Addo BIOGRAPHY OF THE LATE ISAAC OBUAMAH ADDO

It is enough; earth’s struggles soon shall cease,
And Jesus calls us to heaven’s perfect peace.
MHB 501 vrs 7

Indeed earth’s struggles have ceased for Isaac Obuamah Addo whose remains we mourn today.

Isaac Obuamah Addo was born in Accra on the 30th of June, 1963 to the late Samuel Adotei Addo of Sempe-Accra and Madam Abigail Adjeley Adjaye.

He was the eighth son of his parents. He was preceded in death by his father, an older brother and a sister.

OB, as he was fondly called, had his elementary education at The Adabraka Grey Memorial Primary School, Accra, Ghana. He continued his education at Ayalolo Middle School, Ghana from 1975 to 1979 where he obtained the Middle School Leaving Certificate (MSLC).

After completion, he gained admission to Ashley Secretarial College, Accra, Ghana in 1981 and completed Stage II examinations in Accountancy, Commerce and English Language with the Royal Society of Arts in the year 1984.

He started work with Jolinda Construction, a private construction firm in Ghana as an accounts clerk in 1986 and rose to the level of Accounts Officer in 1999, after which he left for the United Kingdom to seek greener pastures in the year 2000.

In London, he worked with a Security Agency from November, 2000 until December 2007 as a Security Supervisor. He returned to Ghana to process his United States Visa documents and departed finally to Oklahoma, (U.S.A) in October, 2008 to join his brothers, Akwei, Carlaus, Solomon and Joshua.

Isaac was one of the top scrabble players in Ghana together with his younger brother, Joshua. The game of Scrabble was Isaac’s passion. He competed at the international level and represented Ghana on two successive occasions at the Pan-African Scrabble Tournaments held in Lagos, Nigeria (1995) and in Accra, Ghana (1996). Isaac competed in all open and national tournaments that were held in Ghana prior to relocating to the United Kingdom. He was an official of the Ghanaian Scrabble team that represented the country at the World Scrabble Tournament held in the United Kingdom in 2000.

When he immigrated to the United States, he was employed at Norman Regional Hospital, Norman, Oklahoma in December, 2008 where he worked as a Laundry Worker until his untimely death on 12th December, 2011.

Isaac was survived by two children: Jessica of Oklahoma and Jeff of Accra, Ghana.

May his gentle soul rest in peace until we meet again.
