King, Faye, 95, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma.
She was born April
30, 1917 in Montrose, Colorado to Leonard and Alta (Helmick) Beach.
Faye was raised a country farm girl in Montrose and Delta, Colorado. She moved
to Norman where her sister Joy lived to go to business college taking classes
that eventually led her to become the assistant to the Dean of Law at the
University of Oklahoma for 30 years. She loved her students, helping them to
graduate and pass the Oklahoma Bar Exam. During this time she married Jack
King. After retiring, Faye and her sister Joy (who was also widowed) started
their craft business, “Grandma Made It, They Are Sisters You Know”. They
enjoyed traveling to many different craft shows and ending up at “An Affair Of
The Heart” craft show which they participated in for over 20 years. She loved
water skiing, traveling, 4 wheeling in the Colorado mountains and visiting with
people. She loved her family and was an inspiration to all of them. They
loved Faye and will miss her immensely.
Faye is survived by one son, Warren Cotts of Ridgway, Colorado; two daughters,
Charlotte Campbell of Norman and Barbara Neil and husband John of Norman;
thirteen grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and eight great great
grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack King
in 1984; one brother, Jay Beach; and two sisters, Joy Shannon and Jan Beach.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2420 Springer Dr., Ste
205, Norman, OK 73069.
Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2012 and
12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 1, 2013 with the family greeting
friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Goodrich Memorial
United Methodist Church, 200 W. Hayes, Norman with
interment following in the Noble I.O.O.F.
Cemetery. Arrangements for Faye
and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook
Funeral Home of Norman.
