Gordon F.
Grissom, 75, Noble, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday April 20, 2014 in Norman.
He
was born March 26, 1939 to Cyrus Dion and Nellie Stufflebean Grissom in Noble.
Gordon fought an extremely courageous battle for three months with a rare lung
disease.
Gordon attended elementary, grades first through eight at Canada School in a one
room school house south of Noble. After graduation from Noble High School in
1957, he began his career in the milk industry which ultimately led to his
acquisition of an independent milk distributorship in Atoka, Oklahoma. Gordon
built that business and became one of the largest distributors in the state.
Gordon was a fantastic salesman because he never met a stranger. In addition
to that, he was a top rate car salesman, winning many awards for salesman of the
year. In retirement, Gordon enjoyed working at the farm with his cows, hay, and
tractors and taking care of his rental properties. He took great pride in being
the best milkman and landlord ever.
He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Grissom; three brothers, Vernon,
Billy and Nolan; and two sisters, Nadine Pedersen and Evelyn Fox.
Gordon is
survived by his wife, Sharon Grissom, of the home; four sons, Scott Grissom, Tim
Grissom and wife Cyndi, Jeff Grissom and wife Laura, Tony Grissom and wife Jenni;
five grandchildren, Taylor, Tate, Riley, Caden, and Jaxon Grissom; four sisters,
Donnie Nell Northcutt, Joyce Brown, Mona Roberts and husband Elmer, Nona Argo
and husband Wayne; and sisters-in-law, Jo Nell Grissom and Florence Grissom.
Gordon is survived by a host of family and friends.
Visitation for Gordon will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23,
2014 with family receiving friends at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook
Street in Norman.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Cleve Haley and Jerry Williams officiating, 330 E. Chestnut in Noble with interment following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Noble.
