Nova Lee Frank, 99, died on
March 29, 2011, in Norman. She was born February 15, 1912, in Noble, Oklahoma,
the second daughter of Charles Alden and Lela Marian Fritzlan.
She began her schooling in Noble Schools but moved to the Alamo School District
for 3 years and learned the life of living on a farm. The family moved back into
town, and her education was continued at Noble, where she graduated from Noble
High School in 1930.
She entered the University of Oklahoma’s summer school and continued in the
fall. She was offered a job, and because it was during the depression, she
decided to leave school and go to work. After several years of work as
salesclerk and office manager, she met Lawton Frank. They were married July 31,
1941.
She and Lawton had two daughters, Lavinia Kay and Jonella, both of Norman.
Jonella and her husband, Gary Rife, made Nova Lee happy with two granddaughters,
Britton and Lindsey Rife.
She continued working outside the home as a bookkeeper for McCall’s Men’s Store,
Garner’s and Dunn’s Dairy Queen state office.
Her church membership was transferred from the Noble Methodist Church to
McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in 1948, where she became a member of
the Fellowship Class, a very friendly and caring class.
Nova Lee enjoyed playing bridge and cherished the time she spent with her
special friends in multiple bridge groups. She was also a member of Sorosis
Daughters and volunteered with Norman Regional Hospital and her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawton, her mother and father, her
sister, Lavern Fritzlan, and her brother, Harold Fritzlan.
