Orvil Ray Davis, age 74 , passed away peacefully at his home April 24, 2013 in Moore after a 29 year hard fought battle with cancer. Orvil was born March 9, 1939 in Dewar, Oklahoma one of 7 children born to Adam Davis and Lou Ellen Connors Davis. He grew up in Dewar and graduated from Dewar High School in 1958. After graduation he was drafted into the Army and served his country proudly for 5 years. After discharge from the Army he continued service to his country working on Johnson Island in Hawaii. Orvil later moved to California and began working for Hughes Helicopter. While working at Hughes he fell in love with another Okie, Dorthy. Orvil and Dorthy were married August 3rd, 1968 in Culver City, California. While newly weds Orvil attended Technology School for tool and dye training on a GI Bill. They remained in California, living in Van Nuys until 1977 when they returned home to Oklahoma. For 20 years he worked as a tool and dye maker for Totco Engineering and later for Continental Carlisle, Inc in Oklahoma City. In his younger years Orvil enjoyed playing basketball with anyone who would take the challenge. His favorite way to spend his spare time though was fishing. Orvil was an avid fisherman but especially liked inner tube fishing. Over the last several years Orvil was asked to work with head and neck cancer patients, offering advice and practical information from his own experience with head and neck cancer.

of Crescent Numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly Funeral
services will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 29, 2013 at the First Baptist
Church of Newcastle. Burial will be at the Norman IOOF Cemetery.
